2026 End of Financial Year Appeal

A Grammar education is transformational, building a lifelong love of learning

Since Grammar was established in 1854, the School has remained committed to offering a regular and liberal course of education to boys of all classes and denominations without distinction.

Through our fee-assistance programme, a number of places are made available every year. Funds are drawn from generous donations from our community, not from fees or government funding. We are proud of this tradition and the achievements of our fee-assisted scholars.

Right now, fee assistance is one of our most pressing necessities.

“A Grammar education is a unique gift, and it is one we wish to make available to more scholars every year. A gift before 30 June would be a fine end to your philanthropic year.” – Stuart McPherson, Headmaster

The more funds we raise, the more places are available.

Corey Blyth (OS 2019) is just one of those students whose education at Sydney Grammar School was made possible by a generous donor. His success truly demonstrates the benefits of a Grammar education; an education you can make possible for another young man with unrealised talent.

In his final year of primary school, Corey Blyth (OS 2019) and his family had settled on two possible high school options, both public co-educational. Never did they consider private schooling to be an option due to financial factors.

Fortunately, Corey’s family became aware of the possibility of a place at Grammar funded through generous philanthropic support. The rest as they say, ‘is history’. Corey has gone on to incredible success; a credit to his School and his exceptional efforts.

Corey was fully immersed in Grammar life from day one. Sport, drama productions, a role as a Peer Support Leader, and academic excellence.

Upon graduation, Corey completed a double degree in law and criminology at UNSW. He worked as a paralegal for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions while studying, and a tipstaff in the Supreme Court of NSW after graduation. Then in November 2024, Corey learned he had been selected as a Rhodes Scholar.

Now studying at the University of Oxford, Corey is moving ever closer to his career goal to bring greater fairness in the legal system for all Australians, notably in regional locations.

Sharon Ditmarsch, Director of Community and Economics master, knew Corey well during his time at the School.

“I am delighted to see him now as an accomplished, humble young man who is grateful to those who enabled him to realise his talent.”

“The Grammar community is unique in its openness and hospitability. It is characterised by people who are often extraordinarily accomplished in their fields but who, more importantly, are good and decent individuals. My family and I were welcomed so readily and are proud to still be a part of it.” – Corey Blyth (OS 2019)
