Academic coaching for the assessment is not necessary, in fact we strongly discourage it. Boys will be asked to complete English tasks (comprehension and creative writing) and Mathematics questions (Number, Patterns and Algebra, Measurement and Data, Space and Geometry) including basic operations and problem-solving. All tasks are set and marked by the School.

Boys from Sixth Class at St Ives and Edgecliff will be accepted into Form I (Year 7) at College Street unless, in the opinion of the Headmaster, after consultation with the Preparatory School headmaster concerned, the boy is thought unlikely to flourish at the Senior School.

For enquiries regarding entry to 2023 or future years, please contact the Admissions Office at: admissions@sydgram.nsw.edu.au.

Entrance Assessment/Forms II to V (Years 8 to 11)

Entrance assessments for Forms II to V are held in early August each year.

The entrance assessment tests for boys wishing to enter Forms II to V in 2023 will take place in early August 2022, at our College Street campus. Applications are now open. The tests comprise of English (comprehension and creative writing) and Math (general ability) and are set relevant to each year group. We encourage boys who are creative thinkers and have a love of learning to sit our assessment tests.

Boys who perform well in the tests are invited to an interview. The interview is an integral part of the admission process and during it we seek to assess, amongst other things, a boy’s intellectual curiosity, the breadth of his interests, and his ability and willingness to contribute fully to the extra-curricular life of the School.

Application forms may be downloaded here: Application Form. Applications will close on 20 July, 2022.
