Assistant Headmaster (Senior Housemaster) Mr Timothy Clark pays tribute to this year’s Prefects and the exemplary contribution they have made to the School community.

To the twenty-six boys who wore the single-crested black tie in 2026, synonymous with their role of Prefect at the School, we offer our congratulations. The boys have made a significant contribution to the School and its community while successfully bringing attention to and raising considerable funds for this year’s Prefect Charity, ProjectKindness. ProjectKindness is a Sydney-based charity organisation which provides food, warmth, stability, hope and kindness to the most vulnerable in our community.

It has been a privilege to work closely with these motivated young men who have been led with distinction by Senior Prefect, Christopher Sevastos, and Second Prefect, Timothy Woo. Their enthusiasm and creativity have come to the fore through their fundraising initiatives including internal sporting competitions and trivia events, alongside the Prefects’ Raffle which was supported by boys, parents, and Old Sydneians. The enduring popularity of regular Prefects’ Barbecues and biannual basketball matches with SCEGGS has continued to foster a strong sense of community, whilst the return of the Prefects-versus-Masters sporting fixture encapsulated the boys’ ability to unite our College Street campus.

While these events have brought much happiness to the School and important funds for ProjectKindness, the role of Prefect is one that is ultimately defined by service and humility. The Prefects of 2026 have completed countless duties, commencing each day on the Stanley Street and College Street gates ensuring that boys are welcomed into the School. Duties involved recess, lunchtime and even evening events often when their peers were enjoying some respite from academic demands. Also, the Prefects found time beyond their sporting, musical, and co-curricular contributions to guarantee that they upheld the highest standards and proudly represented their peers. This year’s Prefects worked collectively and volunteered without question.

Well done, men. Your positivity, attention to detail, and commitment have been impressive. We wish you well for your remaining time at the School.
To succeed the 2026 Prefects, we have not only seen the appointment in recent weeks of the twenty-six Prefects who will continue the tradition of service in 2027, but also the introduction of nine House Prefects, further expanding leadership opportunities for boys across the School.
