The best stories aren’t just read – they’re shared.
As a staff of avid readers, we are all passionate about passing that same love of reading through to our boys. However, this year, we wanted to take it a step further – to not only encourage a love of books within the classroom but to bring reading into the heart of family life. Reading as a family is about more than just books – it’s about shared experiences, meaningful conversations and the joy of escaping into new worlds together. A well-loved story can spark laughter, ignite curiosity and open the door to discussions that stretch far beyond the pages.
With this in mind, we launched Roaring Reads, a school-wide book club designed to encourage families to experience the magic of reading together. The response was incredible, with 304 families eagerly signing up to read one of our suggested titles. Our aim was to offer a diverse selection of books suited to different age groups, including classics, teacher favourites and contemporary reads. Seeing the boys enthusiastically adding their names to our Roaring Reads display was a testament to the excitement this initiative generated.
