Ms Sharon Ditmarsch provides an update on developments and events in our community.
In addition to the normal school day, there were forty-three evening events on site during Term III at College Street alone. As you can imagine, it takes an enormous amount of coordination and collaboration to make these events run smoothly and successfully.
Behind the scenes, there are many hands working together to make sure rooms are set up and ready for action. It begins with Ms Fiona Taylor confirming the event and entering it into the fixtures calendar. The Fixtures Committee then works through the logistics of bumping venues in and out and checking for clashes. It also involves cooperation between parents, associations and masters running the event, the Property department, the Events Coordinator, Catering, the Audio-Visual team, the Alumni and Archives office, the Communication and Publication Officer and the Finance department.

Another example of an all-hands-on-deck metamorphosis was the Form VI HSC Visual Arts Exhibition opening night. Under the direction of Ms Bernadette Mansfield, the entire exhibition had to be installed in the John Vallance Hall Foyer. In a flurry of activity, staff from various departments worked together with the boys to make it happen just in time for a full house to enjoy the exhibition. At the conclusion of the event, the exhibition was disassembled and returned to the Art Rooms that same night!

After three years of wearing masks and postponing events, it was with relief that we were able to get through a full year of opportunities for the boys, parents and staff to come together on many occasions. In particular, it was rewarding to be able to give the Form VI boys a well-deserved ‘normal’ send-off during Leavers’ Week.
