THE TIES THAT BIND

Old Sydneians v First XI The OSU played the current First XI on Friday 13 January on Weigall 1. The weather was fine, the pitch was firm, and the grass was cut low.

The Firsts won the toss and decided to bat, scoring 9/136 in 20 overs. The Old Sydneians replied with 5/172 in their allotted overs and therefore won bragging rights.

Old Sydneians’ Union Committee

On 8 February, the Old Sydneians’ Union (OSU) Committee met for the first time this year at College Street. Several members viewed the meeting via Zoom and the President, Walter MacCallum (OS 1987), stressed the importance of 2023 being the 130th year of the organisation. Walter’s committee has a good mix of age groups represented, with John Edwards (OS 1951), Bruce Marich (OS 1961), Peter Gibby (OS 1964), David Ross (OS 1965-66), Craig Duly (OS 1977), Dominic Knight (OS 1994), Andre Bressan (OS 2000), Rob Chiu (OS 2001), Nick Manettas (OS 2009), Tom O’Neill (OS 2009), Cian Bowes (OS 2021) and David Zhang (OS 2021).
