THE TIES THAT BIND

Old Sydneians continue to reunite and rekindle their friendships, forged during their school years at Grammar.

New York drinks

On 21 June, the Headmaster had the pleasure of meeting around forty Old Sydneians at the National Arts Club in New York City. The event, which was hosted by Mr Ben Hartley (OS 1984) Executive Director of the Arts Club, gave our Old Boys the opportunity to reminisce and forge new friendships.

London gathering

Mr James Aitken (OS 1988), the Honorary Secretary of the OSU London branch, organised a group of around thirty Old Sydneians to meet with the Headmaster on 27 June. It was a very successful evening at one of the oldest pubs in London, The Footman, in Mayfair which has been in place since 1749.

OSU Annual Long Lunch

Mr Walter MacCallum and the OSU Committee organised a very successful lunch at the Royal Automobile Club on Thursday 25 August. Almost 100 Old Sydneians, aged from 20–87, mingled happily for several hours.

1971 50-year reunion lunch

A delayed 50-year reunion for the class of 1971 was held at the Castlereagh Club in May. It was a very well attended event with over 60 Old Boys in attendance. Convenors: Sam Lamond, Craig Moran, Peter Middleton, Phil Garling, Carey McMahon and Steve Ward did a wonderful job organising an enjoyable event.

In 2023, she will be reducing her workload to two days a week and Ms Charlotte McColl, who has been working in Archives, will become a major contributor to the Alumni Department. Steve Gonski (OS 1975) will continue to provide assistance in liaising with Old Sydneians.
