Sport at Edgecliff
The School recognises that sport is an important part of a liberal education. All boys participate in sport. Fundamental sporting skills are taught to the Infants boys, while compulsory inter-school competitions begin in the Primary years. Sportsmanship, along with the social rules of individual and team play, are emphasised in our sporting competitions and these concepts are closely linked to our ‘Code of Respect’. Team and individual sports offered include cricket, basketball, athletics, swimming, cross-country running, fencing, rugby and football. A specialist teacher also runs a Physical Education programme which makes use of the Weigall Sports Ground located next to the School. Furthermore, our popular Fitness Club meets before School four days each week.
