Inquiry Units

Inquiry Units

History and Geography are taught through our Inquiry Units, in which we encourage boys to develop a local, national and international perspective through in-depth investigations, incorporating higher level thinking skills. Key focus questions are designed by teachers so that knowledge is attained and understanding is achieved, while opportunities are provided for boys to direct their own learning through group tasks and independent research projects. Given the investigative nature of the subject and our intention to produce self-directed learners, we work hard to develop boys’ research skills. This is facilitated through the use of our well-resourced library and access to information technology. As they complete each unit, boys develop the ability to question, think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, make decisions and adapt to change.
