Headmaster's Introduction

If you are looking for a school where learning is both challenging and fun, you should visit St Ives. Join one of the regular tours, or come to our annual Open Day. This is a school where curious boys thrive and develop a love of learning. Our hope is that they will be well prepared when they leave Year Six to move to the Senior School in the city for their secondary schooling. Our mission at St Ives is to prepare them socially and intellectually for the rich academic life they will experience there.

At St Ives the atmosphere is positive. The teachers get to know the boys well and the whole School community thrives on mutual respect, co-operation and friendship.

Creativity is valued here. Most boys learn at least one musical instrument, and there are many choirs and musical groups. The School is set amongst rolling green fields with plenty of space to play. Sport is popular. The swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts are in regular use, and we play other sports as well.

Schools make all sort of extravagant claims and promises. Grammar was founded with one overriding aim in mind - the preparation of talented boys for advanced study, ultimately at University.
