Main Points of Entry to the School
These are:
- Kindergarten at St Ives
- Transition at St Ives and Edgecliff
- Third Class at St Ives and Edgecliff
- Fifth Class at St Ives and Edgecliff
- First Form at College Street
A boy can sometimes enter the School in a Form or Class other than these.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
Preparatory Schools (St. Ives and Edgecliff)
Boys who wish to enter either preparatory school at Kindergarten or Transition level are invited to the School with their parents for an informal interview in small groups. Boys are expected to have good spoken English and fine motor skills appropriate to their age. If a boy does not gain a place at this time, he will automatically be placed on all our waiting lists and he will be invited to attempt the entrance test for Year 3 and Year 5. Entry to Years 3 and 5 depends upon success in a competitive entrance test and a satisfactory interview with the Headmaster.
Senior School (College Street)
All boys wishing to enter College Street from schools other than St Ives or Edgecliff must take an Entrance Examination.
Form I (Year 7)
For boys wishing to enter Form I in 2011, the Entrance Exam will be held in May, 2010. Application forms are available from Ms Virginia Cains on 9332 5805.
Boys from Sixth Class at St Ives and Edgecliff will be accepted into Form I at College Street unless, in the opinion of the Headmaster, after consultation with the Headmaster of the Preparatory School concerned, and after consideration of his whole preparatory school record, the boy is deemed unlikely to be able to cope with the academic standard at the Senior School.
For boys coming from schools other than St Ives and Edgecliff Preparatory Schools, an entrance examination and interview are used as means of selection.
Forms II to V (Years 8 to 11)
Entry to Forms above Form I will depend upon a vacancy occurring. An entrance examination and interview are used as means of selection.
